The award winning museum will feature an exhibit titled "Summertime: A century of leisure and fun on the Saugatuck area Lake Michigan Shore." The museum is open daily, noon to 4:00pm from Saturday, may 29 to September 4. Open weekends in September and October. Special showing available for groups by request. The museum is located in ther old pumphouse on the west shore of the Kalamazoo River. Parking is available at Mt. Baldhead Park, or take the chain ferry from Saugatuck across the river - the museum is a short walk to the north. This is an exhibit not to be missed. Sylvia Randolph: An Art-filled Life
Through June 15, Monday - Friday 9:00am -5:00 pm and during scheduled performances Saugatuck Center for the Arts, 400 Culver Street, Saugatuck. Admission FREE Celebrate the life of artist Sylvia Randolph through selected works from her eight-decade career. The pieces illustrate her remarkable story and the profound influence of the community she called home which, in turn, she deeply touched. A lifelong artist, Sylvia graduated from the University of Illinois in 1927, studied painting at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Ox-bow in Saugatuck. At Ox-Bow she studied with noted American Impressionists Frederick Fursman and Albert Krehbiel. Saugatuck's rich landscape; the dunes, the forests and the town itself, were ongoing themes throughout her career.
Randolph left her mark on generations of artists; encouraging, inspiring, and mentoring. She was a founding member of the Saugatuck/Douglas Art Club, a member of the Saugatuck Womenís Club, the Saugatuck Garden Club, the Saugatuck/Douglas Historical Society, and was hostess of a Tuesday salon for painters. At the age of 100, Sylvia wrote and illustrated a cookbook of her own recipes, "Sylvia's Sunday Dinners".

Theatre production of "The Full Monty"
At Mason Street Warehouse. Based on the 1997 film by the same name, a group of unemployed steel workers comes up with the ultimate money-making gimmick. In the process they find renewed self-esteem, the importance of friendship and ability to have fun. 2009 marks the 400th anniversary of the Dutch presence in what is now the United States. In 1609 English explorer Henry Hudson, under the auspices of the Dutch East India Company, sailed up the river that eventually bore his name: New Yorkís Hudson River. Thirteen years earlier, in 1596, Dutch explorer Cornelis de Houtman, sent by Amsterdam merchants to find a source of spices, made the first Dutch contact with the islands of modern-day Indonesia and Melanesia.

The Muskegon Museum of Art proudly continues its celebration of the art of West Michigan with the 81st Regional Exhibition. All area artists 18 years and older who reside in the 231, 616, and 269 area codes are invited to submit up to tow artworks for juror selection. Regional are registration starts May 7th and continues through May 9. Over $2,400 in cash and purchase prizes will be awarded. This years juror is Maria Tomasula, an artists and professor of art at the University of Notre Dame. Her most recent solo show appeared at the Muskegon Museum of Art in the spring of 2008. Tomasula has shown extensively throughout the Midwest and is represented by Zola/Lieberman in Chicago and the Forum Gallery in New York and Los Angeles.
