Find a Little Bit of Everything Along this Stretch of Highway
There’s a bit of everything along the stretch of U.S.-31 that runs from Rothbury to Hart. Best known for the Silver Lake sand dunes, the area also boasts plenty of family activities, some great festivals, art galleries and beautiful beaches.
The Silver Lake area is a haven for off-roaders but the area is also home to campgrounds, go-kart tracks, mini-golf and beaches. In addition, there is the Little Sable Point Lighthouse, historic downtown Hart, areas for wine tasting, petting farms and artist markets.
The area has two major festivals: the National Asparagus Festival, which runs the second weekend of June in Shelby/Hart, and September’s Apple Fest in Mears.
Nearby Rothbury is home to the well-known Double JJ Ranch, which offers all sorts of family-friendly activities and is hosting ROTHBURY, a music festival, in July.
This stretch of Lake Michigan shore is known for the dunes, but the towns of Rothbury, New Era, Stony Lake, Shelby, Mears and Hart provide plenty to do for off-roaders.
